Warwickshire ONE: Be Creative
The inspiration – As part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Creative Health Alliance, Warwickshire County Council Public Health commissioned Escape Arts to deliver a community arts project in response to COVID-19. Over 10,000 creative packs for the project were delivered by Escape Arts across Warwickshire to those who have no internet access or were in shielding communities, and to staff and patients throughout Warwick Hospital and George Eliot Hospital. The packs featured activities such a creating ‘Pandemic Postcards’ as a positive outlet to give thanks to our NHS staff and offer messages of hope for the future.
One: Be Creative Postcards
The engagement in the community arts project was so successful that each individual artwork created was combined to create a larger 1 x 3 metre collage of work for public display. The final larger artwork features nearly 200 images designed by people from a range of ages, abilities and backgrounds, and displays a subtle translucent message over the top that reads ‘We ❤️ our NHS’ as a reflection of what the artwork represents.
Wye Valley - Positive Postcard Project
As a result of the Warwickshire project, Wye Valley NHS Trust has commissioned us to work with staff teams across Wyevale to develop public art pieces for Hereford County Hospital, Ross-on-Wye Community Hospital, Bromyard Community Hospital and Leominster Community Hospital. Quote from Wye Valley. We have put together a range of creative resources and demonstration videos to help staff to develop their work. Artist Zara Day has developed a comprehensive step by step guide to creating your Positive Postcard, with lots of different techniques to try in your own time.
Kirsty's Postcard Video
NHS Nurse, Escape Art’s Creative Health Practitioner and Founder of Coventry based Sitting Rooms of Culture, Kirsty Brewerton, worked with Escape Arts to develop the One: Be Creative project. See her demonstration video inviting you to create your postcard. Watch out for more inspirational video demonstrations to help develop your work. COMING SOON!
Our Creative Health Practitioner Kirsty will be running a FREE online Journaling for Wellbeing Course, specifically for NHS and healthcare workers. The workshops will be over six weeks, for one hour on zoom. For the course you will be provided with a creative journaling box and there will be weekly resources and demonstration videos in case you have to miss a week due to shifts. We will be shifting the start date to correspond to when everyone has received the Positive Postcard information. New dates will be confirmed and shared via Talk Trust. This is a great course and will provide lots of inspiration.
