Nuneaton In Stitches is a volunteer led group who meet the second Monday of every month at the Station Gallery in Nuneaton. The group create projects based on local heritage using a range of different stitch techniques, such as knitting, crotcheting and sewing. This group inspired it’s sister project, Stratford In Stitches. We are always keen to recruit new members, the kettle is always on for anyone who wants to pop in and find out more!
Past projects have included creating a Two Tone dress for George Eliot (combining the bicentenary commemoration of George Eliot’s birth and the 40th anniversary of the Two Tone music movement) and a quilt commemorating the arrival of soldiers in Nuneaton in 1916, based on local oral histories.
The group also work with professional textile artists to help develop their projects. A donation of £4 per session is encouraged, to help towards materials and overhead expenses. If you are interested in finding out more about the group, contact info@escapearts.org.uk
