The Welcombe Hills Project

The Welcombe Hills Project

Funded by Warwickshire County Arts and Stratford Town Trust, the idea for this project came from the participants of Escape who wanted to make a contribution to Stratford upon Avon. Many of them enjoy the local beauty spot The Welcombe Hills and expressed a wish to create a work inspired by the area which would serve as a means of increasing awareness of this local asset.

Working with artists Robin Wade and Matthew Terblanch, the participants created a work using clay and metal to reflect elements of the hills. These materials were chosen to relate to the environment, and for their ability to weather and change with the surroundings.

The work now graces the front entrance to the Escape Workshop.
