Current Programmes - Changing Landscapes

Over the next two years Escape is offering a new program of creative sessions called Changing Landscapes, funded by Arts Council England, taking a creative look at the ‘fabric of our lives’. Using our local memories and heritage together with music and arts to enrich & inspire and learn something new about the landscapes of our lives.

‘Intercommunity Music and Spoken Word’- in Nuneaton and Stratford- exploring ’perception of place ‘ through Music, Spoken Word and digital Images

‘Memory Books and vessels’ –a creative approach to collecting and presenting memories relevant to individual identity

‘Bread – Serving a Feast’. a 'flavoursome' project exploring the history of food traditions, recipes, foraging, cooking and sharing, involving textiles, sculpture, recipe books and utensils as part of an inter-community series based on, rationing, childhood memories and cultural backgrounds .

‘Women working’s’ looking at the changes to our lives and communities as a result of womens working work

‘ Memories to Share’

Community workshops and events will develop a body of art work and local memories, which will inform a booklet for dementia sufferers and their carers to use as an interactive tool to share their time/memories/activity. By focusing on local events/places/memories we will create a booklet that can be used as an intergenerational activity, recording shared experiences, and conversation. The booklet will be available for hospital, residential homes, GP surgeries etc.

Local heritage and partner projects, producing site specific work such as the Stanley Brick Trail installation art, the WW1 poppy mosaic art installed at Rope Walk, carnival costumes for People in Action and touring exhibitions with Art Alert Nuneaton.

Other activities: Nuneaton Town Centre Cinemas of the Past Shop Front Trails, mosaic bunting art for the Heritage Centre and ‘Yarn Bombing the Parlour’ for Warwickshire Open Studios.

There is always a welcome for anyone over 16 yrs – just come along , no need to book – the kettle is always on!
