The Queens Award for Volunteering Services

In June 2018 Escape was awarded the MBE for voluntary organisations, the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities.

As part of winning this award our Chair of Trustees Marion Morgan, CEO Karen Williams and volunteer Hattie Throssell were invited to Buckingham Palace to attend the the Queens Garden Party. In addition our Youth and Community Coordinator received special recognition and was invited to attend Harry and Meghan’s wedding in Windsor in 2018.

Escape off course are truly proud of these honours and celebrated with volunteer thank you parties and an official ceremony hosted by Stratford Town Council, where the High Sheriff of Warwickshire presented our award on behalf of the Queen. Find out more about volunteering with us.

NHS Quality for Health Accreditation

In 2017 Escape was one of the first voluntary and community sector organisation in Warwickshire to attain NHS Quality for Health Standards, specifically designed to demonstrate the impact for participants/service users in the person-centred delivery of health services. The quality assurance is achieved through rigorous external assessment.

Quality for Health measures outcomes based evidence across nine quality areas supported by a range of measurable indicators. Some of the areas measured are related to being an effective organiser (related to governance, leadership, management, policies,) whilst other areas are specifically related to health promotion, equality and outcomes/impact for participants.

Quality for Health also meets the requirements of the five key questions posed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).  For more information please visit:  http://qualityforhealth.org.uk/

Pride of Stratford

In 2018 Escape won Educators of the Year at the Pride of Stratford Awards.  The evening celebrates the best achievements in business and the community across the Stratford upon Avon District.

In addition to this Escape has been highly commended and received second place for Community Garden in the Stratford in Bloom competitions and in 2018 Escape won the Chairman’s Trophy.  This largely down to the dedication of Paul Mitchell our volunteer gardener.

Further recognition for our work include receiving a Historic England Heritage Angel Highly Commended Award for the rescue and renovation of the Old Slaughterhouse in 2015. This celebrate the efforts of people taking action to champion their local heritage.

The awards were founded by Andrew Lloyd Webber and are co-funded by the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

Warwickshire Volunteering Awards

Escape has been recognised locally for its volunteering services.  In both 2018 and 2019 Nuneaton projects scooped the Nuneaton and Bedworth Volunteer Awards two years running.

In 2019 Escape won the South Warwickshire Volunteer Award for Creativity and Culture organised by Warwickshire Council for Voluntary Services.

Our volunteers are also acknowledge during a civic volunteer reception hosted by Stratford Town Council as part of Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations.

Our volunteers are the life blood of Escape and we hold many thank you parties and events across Volunteer Week and across the year.  Our very own Volunteer Awards are held in August where volunteers across the charity receive special recognition for Volunteer Superstar of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year with two hand-made felted kingfisher trophies, made by Paul Mitchell.
